Meet Steph Scott
STEPH SCOTT
BA (Hons), MPsyc (Clinical), MAPS
Steph is a clinical psychologist that works with adults across a range of challenges and life stages. Supporting mums, dads, and families through the early years of parenthood is one area that Steph is particularly passionate about. She has a special interest in perinatal OCD, anxiety and mood, parent-infant attachment, and general adjustment (e.g. identity changes, mum guilt, perfectionism, intrusive thoughts, inner critic, emotion dysregulation).
Steph has a warm, motivating, and down-to-earth style, entwined with humour and compassion. She is also a mother of two young girls.
Psychology areas of support
Perinatal and beyond
Steph offers psychological support to clients throughout the perinatal period (conception, pregnancy and postpartum) and early years of parenthood. She recognises the importance of creating a safe, compassionate space for clients to explore their parenthood journey and the duality of this experience. Common areas include intrusive thoughts, the inner critic, guilt, grief and loss, relationship and identity changes, parent-child attachment and anger. Steph provides perinatal support through Homm Psychology, as well perinatal not-for-profit, Gidget Foundation.
Anxiety and mood
Steph supports clients with a range of clinical and non-clinical mood and anxiety challenges. This includes depression, generalised anxiety, specific phobias, OCD, social and performance anxiety, perfectionism, stress, and emotion dysregulation. She takes a holistic approach to understanding the problem and works collaboratively with clients to better understand what is happening and implement empirically supported approaches to address these challenges.
Life transitions
Steph works alongside clients to help them navigate key life transitions, from a foundation of compassion and belief in themselves and their innate ability and wisdom. This may include the various stages of parenthood, relationship difficulties (both current and with family of origin), previous trauma and stressful events, and many others. In an integrated way, Steph supports clients to build both in-the-moment coping skills, and develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of one’s self (e.g. values, goals, attachment style, core beliefs).
